George Matthew Karl (born May 12, 1951 in the Pittsburgh suburb of Penn Hills, Pennsylvania) is a previous NBA player and todays head coach of the Denver Nuggets. Karl is presently Thirteenth on the tons-instance win names for coaches in the NBA. Fallowing a college career at the University of North Carolina he played for the San Antonio Spurs from 1973-1978. Immediately when his swimming career over Karl became an adjunct coach for the Spurs. Karl so moved in to the Continental Basketball Association as head coach of the Montanna Golden Nuggets. When coach of the Golden Nuggets, Karl won CBA Coach of the Season both 2 days, inside 1981 & 1983.
Karl wwhen so given a risk to coach in the NBA as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers from 1984-1986 before moving on to the Golden State Warriors where he would coach until 1988. When existence fired from either a Warriors, Karl returned to the CBA when coach of the Albany Platoons, once more winning coach of the season around 1991. Karl returned to the NBA when coach of the Seattle Supersonics. He would hang on to this position from either 1991-1998, leading them to the NBA Finals in 1996 where they would lose to the Chicago Bulls 4 games to 2. Inside 1998, he moved to the Milwaukee Bucks where he served as head coach & general manager, where he would stay until he resigned below a 2003 season. He returned to the NBA inside 2005 when he took over a job of head coach of the Nuggets from either interim head coach Michael Cooper on January 27.
In July 27, the Nuggets announced that Karl got prostate cancer.
